The Vessel Image Processing System (VIPS) radically applies our state-of-the-art SuperTrack technology to dynamically detect, track and identify vessels with high accuracy and in real-time. It makes use of powerful cameras to scan the waterway and zoom in on each vessel. Through the use of advanced image mapping techniques, where 3D images are transformed onto a 2D platform, each vessel can be accurately identified.
The system complements and enhances existing radar-based vessel tracking systems used by most port authorities. It can accurately detect and identify vessels undetectable by radar due to changes in geo-orientation and obstruction, thereby improving navigational safety in the waterways. Besides detecting, tracking and identifying vessels, the system also comes with the optional capability of measuring the height of vessels to further ensure safety in the waterways. |
