Stratech Systems is working with the Land Transport Authority of Singapore
to implement the world's first nationwide Travel Information System
to track up to 4,000 public buses and predict their arrival 15
minutes ahead at all 22 bus interchanges and about 1, 000 bus
stops. Besides providing commuters with real-time information
such as arrival times and service disruptions, the system will
also enable the bus operators to monitor the movement and positions
of their buses and respond quickly to incidents involving their
buses. This project involves setting up a Singapore-wide private
digital trunk radio network (TETRA) to track all 4,000 public
transit buses. The digital network also provides voice/data communications
for bus operators and bus drivers. |
